Plumbing an auxiliary transfer tank for gravity feed
I just picked up a 100 gallon transfer tank yesterday. I plan to plumb it into my front tank. I will not be using any offroad diesel fuel. Just normal diesel for hauling trips.
I am looking for ideas to either gravity feed with an electric check valve or use a 12v pump.
What have you guys done and how did you plumb it. I was looking at the RDS kit, but it doesn't look like its going to work for the OBS trucks like the 99+models.

DOT, is also not the law. Its a regulatory agency that recommends things. State laws aren't dictated by DOT.

I've been doing it for years. What I do is use a small 12v pump, a electric solinode and run a line into the fill tube for the front tank. The 12v pump will fill the tank a little bit faster then I can use it and if I turn off the pump and leave the soinode open it will gravity feed into the tank slowly. I need a gauge but I've been doing it so long I about know how much is in there based on how much I use it.

So, I just ordered this:
I should be able to just use a toggle switch on the dash. With the ignition off it will remain closed. I do plan to also have a shut off ball valve at the tank as well just in case. This should allow me to just T into the filler neck to gravity feed the tank.

On my truck the auxiliary tank is plumbed into the front tank with a one way check valve in the line. There is also a ball valve at the outlet of the tank in case of a leak or if you don't want the aux. tank feeding the factory tank. It gravity feeds, no electric valves, no fuss no muss. When I road trip home I fill up the front tank and the auxiliary tank as I'm leaving town and never have to stop for fuel on the way... its awesome.
