P1316 means the IDM has some codes stored. See if your scanner can pull those codes by running a KOEO or buzz test. Does the SES light come on when you are experiencing the loss of power? If so, then I would suspect a potential problem with the UVCH (Under Valve Cover Harness). It's a somewhat common problem with the 7.3 engine.

...yet you are still getting the P1316 code.

Have you inspected the under-hood wiring harness where it connects to the engine harness (at the left side valve cover). The insulation can rub off the wires and cause all kinds of issues. (just throwing out suggestions...)

Did you go with OEM valve cover gaskets and harnesses? Some folks have reported problems with the Dorman stuff. A commonly overlooked issue is a burnt center pin on the gasket, harness or both. The truck will run fine one minute and then drop 4 cylinders the next minute. Starts intermittently at first and becomes more frequent. Is this your symptom?

Here is what a burned center pin looks like. Did you change the gaskets AND harnesses or just the harness?

picked up the harnest from dealer(we try not to drift to far from theier parts) and all looked good no bent no burns no chaffing or anything like that. when we first got 1316 we took a look at thoses saw they wer bad and since the truck started a bit to delayed (due to bad inj.) we desided to replace them all with uvch. no we didnt replace the plugs just cleaned and inspect all seemed good.
sorry for thrwing my headachs out to you guys but the supers over here expect miracles. u knw? u knw? u knw!
thanks for any future ideas

You really need to pull the IDM codes. P1316 means there are codes stored so retrieving those is vital to your troubleshooting process. Otherwise you are just replacing parts until you find the issue.....which could be a faulty wire or connection somewhere. Hopefully your scan tool has some way to get those higher level codes.

Meanwhile, it's not a bad idea to verify your wiring from the IDM to the injectors. Here is the diagnostic tech sheet for that process. The IDM is located behind the driver's sign fender emblem. You will have to drop the inner wheel well liner to get access. Have a helper wiggle or move around the wiring harness while you measure with your volt/ohm meter. Check the harness for chaffing or faulty insulation where possible....pay particular attention to the harness where it touches the driver's side valve cover.

Your symptom sounds like a wiring issue that is affecting one bank of cylinders. The most common cause for this is a loose UVCH or burned pins. The next most common cause is a fault in the wire harness somewhere.
