Steering Column Vibration/Noise on dirt roads?

Anyone notice an excessive vibration type noise that seems to come from the steering column just under the dash while driving on dirt roads? It sounds like the steering column is vibrating/resonating up and down when you drive over washboard dirt roads. Really annoying. It doesn't look like anything is loose.
