Ck fuses and neutral safety switch first . Try starting it in neutral and playing with shifter while trying to start .

Neutral switch is part of the PRNDL switch . Mounted on transmisson , driver side behind shift linkage where cable attaches . You might have a bad switch or wiring . Here is where a wiring diagram would help . It could be wiring , relay , Igniton switch ect.

When I started my truck this morning it was hard to put it in to reverse. Could that be because the PRNDL switch is bad

The friggin headlight switch was bad , backfeeding to the dash and GEM .keeping the ecm powerd up ! No wiring issues , internal switch problem .Go figure . Ain't seen that before . Tell that one to your buddies . They won't beleive it either .

Could be mechanical , not likley the switch . Did not read where you are , Ice build up can cause issues like you describe . Parked on a grade with parking pawl loaded , ect .
