Needing OE Crossmembers: 58 F100 223

Howdy all,

I'm new to this forum and have grand ideas of restoring a 58 F100 223/4 speed that I acquired a few months ago (it didn't come with engine or tranny but recently picked up a 223 w/4 speed). My objective is to restore it back to "close to original" but after getting the cab & bed off the frame I found the first three crossmembers were either missing or really hacked up (I assume the PO had a V8 of some sort)... live & learn.

Anyway, if anyone happens to have any or all of the first three crossmembers or know where to look (ebay, etc) I'd very much appreciate hearing from you.

Thanks in advance,

Bill

Welcome to FTE. If you could post a pic of your frame it may bring you more results.

Follow-up pics

Thanks for the welcome!

If I got these in the right order, you can see where the midsection of the first crossmember has had the midsection cut & folded back. The second may be okay but the welds on top didn't look too professional so I'm not sure if it's OE or not (what do you guys think?). The third is where it should be... you can see the remains of the it where it was cut off the frame.

I obviously need the third but can I make do with the first two or do they need replaced?

Thanks,

Bill

Here is a link to similar question from a few years back where ND listed the part numbers for frame rails and the some cross members. (see post #17) A google search for those numbers turned up nothing. I would say your best bet would be a donor frame/truck. Although Bill may show up with newer and better info for you.

Good luck in your quest!

I would agree with getting a donor frame. That certainly is a project. It could be repaired but you might wish you just swapped it out before you were thru! If you haven't already got one, a shop manual and master parts catalog will save you a lot of time and head scratching!

Just ran all six of these part numbers on three parts locator sites: No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any.

Thanks for your help

Thanks all for your comments. Via one of the links you provided (auto-part.com) I found a local salvage yard that has a 1960 frame! I'll give them a call and see what they've got.

Thanks again,

Bill

On the first crossmember the motor mounts are intact. Depending on your welding skill, you could unfold it and weld it back together. The second does not belong there, so it can go. The third is necessary. Keep an eye on Ebay, local classifieds, and local salvage yards.
Good luck in the search.
