97' F450 DRW 4X4 chip truck
Hi all, first post!
excited to be able to learn stuff for this 97' F450 im getting in a week or so...
Its got 100K miles with 460, 5 speed stick and 4wheel drive.
Its an X-Davey truck, so word has it they had taken these DRW's 2wheel drive trucks and had them converted over by Marmon-Herrington. They used the MC-80 front axle (they say its comparible to a dana 80 in stength) and I think there own T-case as well..... man the front carrier is beefy!
I here the parts are a bit spendy if you need rotors ect. on front axle...will see.
Has anyone on here owned one?? I hope its not a bucket of worms, got to keep the tree business up and going.

where did you find that?
boy they really do set right up there don't they.i guess as long as you've got a dump trailer to load the wood in.
if your a climber, you should have an auto.you don't mind all the leg work, working and driving too? must be a young pup still or your cheating with a bucket lol. then again it's not as if you can order it your way and those converts are few and far between it seems as is.

I don't have any small Marmon trucks but I have 3 big ones. They are a decent company to deal with, lots of stuff is expensive but some is reasonable.
They buy parts from vendors so the prices reflect that. But once you find the compatible part in the parts stores, you're set.
Try finding parts for a 64 F850, a 66 F800, and an 84 F800... The new one isnt bad, the others suck. Hope you have luck.

Oh yeah. Forgot to say that.
I get all bearings and seals from the local industrial bearing/drive/belt place. They can match up numbers and or just measure id OD and get you what you need.
I don't know if they can get them or order them or if they make them. But look at a place called r1concepts.com
They are fairly resourceful. You may be able to give them dimensions and they can look up something for you. A friend got drilled and slotted rotors for his 1ton van and his vw vanagon. Quality is pretty nice also.

id like to go back in time and buy that blue one (or your green one now! lol) problem is,they'd still cost too much lol.nice find on those pics too.
you know what some guys do with these f-super's since they have the steep axle gearing to pull a house over,is install an aux od unit too.sometimes you can find decent deals on used ones.
