1987 f350 fuel gauge problem
my husband is having trouble finding what is wrong with this truck the fuel gauge only works on the front tank but when he switches it to the rear tank it pegs out past full what could be wrong causeing it not to read on the rear tank but it reads on the front tank someone please help

What engine size ?

Does he have a voltmeter?

460 and he said he can unhook all the wires and it still does it even unhook the gauge completely and still pegs out at full

What wires? From where?

"unhook the gauge" What does this mean?

Does he have a voltmeter?

Does his Water Temp Gage & Oil Pressure gage work?

Has he disconnected the connector under the cab going to the Tank Selector Valve?
May be about 5 wires in it?

Can he find the Yellow & White striped wire in that connector ?
