Back blinkers work but not front or dash

What would be the cause for this strange symptom; left or right blinker when activated, the correct tail light blinks, not the front blinker doesn't, nor does the indicator on the dash. The 4 way flashers work fine.

Truck is a 69 F100

Has there been any work done in the steering column switch recently? Have you checked the fuses?

Nothing recently, I had this all working about 3 years ago, but I had a computer crash and lost my notepad file with all the wiring information I had painstakingly collected while repairing it. Any tips are welcome, I'd like to get a few ideas and get down there to check; the fewer times I have to crawl under there and lay on my back under the dash the better, haha. Is there separate fuses for front & rear blinkers? (see this is the kind of thing I would know if I had all my notes still).

All the fuses are together over the dimmer switch. I am wondering since the brake & turn signal share the same wires going to the back if you are getting a power bleed over there allowing them to work in the back.

How often do you drive the truck? You made a reference to 3 years ago.....

I actually put it on the road last week, test drove it once, then let it sit the rest of the week until I could replace the front coil springs. It's a lot less scary to drive now that the wheels stand up nice and straight.

Even though I fixed all the electrical issues in 2010 I am still finding more and more problems. The signal between fuel gauge and fuel float is not working anymore, the tach stopped working, and the blinker issue popped up. This is depressing because I remember 3 years ago when I finished and verified everything was working, smiling and saying "Now I'll never have to do electrical work on this truck again!"

I would start at the column connector as that is where it feeds the front signals and the dash indicators. But to have both out at the same time is weird. In this schematic, #3 wire feeds the left front turn signal and #50 feeds the indicator. #2 wire feeds the right front turn signal, #49 the indicator. Four way flashers are on a seperate circuit, that is why they still work. Let us know what you find. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wi...-70_master.jpg

Hey thanks for that wiring diagram I am going to print this out and study it, I think this is exactly what I need.

Either way get you a circuit tester and go from there. It is a must have for working on old trucks.

Sounds like a problem with the turn signal switch itself or wiring between the turn signal switch and hazard flasher switch.

A: All four work including dash indicators with hazard switch.
B: Only the two rear work with the turn signal switch.

The two rear brake/turn signal lights are isolated from the front in the turn signal switch. This is so your brake lights do not turn on your front indicators when you step on the brakes.

The hazard switch connects the the front and rear circuts together.

I've seen worn out turn signal switches cause weird problems.

Good luck.

Jowilk- hey brother been looking for you. At my wits end with this 3 on the floor for the 66 f100 I beam. It seems hurst stopped making the installation kit so now I have the mastershift 3-speed for the ford and no installation kit to put in. Are there other brands that fit this shifter? Or a different kit and shifter altogether that will fit?

Any help is appreciated

That is exactly the same tester I had gotten for my birthday over 30 years ago and I still have it! Still works good, too!

My blinker problems were caused from Squirrels eating my wiring.

Mine is probably in that age range too.

Been right here every day.
I'm sorry I don't have any good advice for you. Unless you can find someone with a setup for sale, I don't know what to offer. I can only suggest what I believe I have in the past, do what I did put in a C6 and let it shift it's own gears.

Hey part time is better than no time. I am betting on grounding, dirty connection. It will be a PITA to find.

hmmm im diggin looking at the C6. in the mean time the 3-speed 352 neads gear oil. i drained it but the filler plug seems to only allow me about a at of oil/grease and i begins to come out. that being said i am directly putting the nozzel of the bottle at a subpar angle i would assume. i hope i am in the filler hole and it is just needing to use a tube with higher bottle positioning.

am i correct that the filler plug is about mid way on the side and has a large square nut? i have the shop manual but for the life of me cant find it in the small encylcopedia that is the manual. maybe if someone has a page reference?

thanks guys!
