72 f100 5.0 swap clutch problems

Guys
I am trying to put a 84 mustang 5.0 in my 1972 f100 and use my existing 3 speed. I thought I had the correct 50 oz flywheel (164 tooth) from 1995 f150 but my clutch doesn't bolt up. Any ideas. Is there a flywheel that has the 50 oz 164 tooth and bolts to my old clutch. Thanks

Mike

The newer stuff is likely 10.5" clutch, where your old was 11". The bolt patterns are different.

Looks like I can change to a new 10" clutch kit. Wonder of they will work.

Engine mounts

I am planning the same swap. What engine mounts did you use for the swap?

Ford lists the 1995 F150 302 clutch being 11". So it sounds like you use 1995 pressure plate and 1972 disc.

Original style stands and mounts for that body style truck that came with a 302.

Both applications should be 11". He needs to use a 1995 pressure plate that will have the correct bolt pattern for the 1995 flywheel. Has to use the 1995 flywheel because of balance issues. The 1972 11" disc is needed for the inner spline to match the original 3 speed's input shaft.

That's what I thought...... lol

Wasn't sure if they changed the spline count.

Actually you use stands from a 302 equipped 69-79 (G engine code) truck, or 77-79 351M (H engine code), 400 (S engine code) trucks.

Same engine supports aka towers/stands/perches:

1969/79 F100 302 / 1975/79 F150 302 / 1977/79 F100/350 351M/400 2WD
