I just joined the forum. I just purchased a 97 F-250 4x4 Heavy Duty. I'm a die hard Ford guy & was curious if anybody knows the specs on this truck such as what tranfer case it has, what axels, gear ratios, etc... It has a 7.5 L and it runs great! Love it so far!

Look at the door jamb on the drivers side. It'll have a bunch of codes on it, one is gear ratio. It has a Dana 50 Twin Traction Beam front end, and a Sterling 10.25 rear end. The Sterling is very tough. The Dana 50 is often swapped out for a Dana 60 straight axle from an F350. Transfer case is likely a BW1356, but if you crawl under you will be able to find a tag on it somewhere that says what it is. 460s are good motors, expect low fuel mileage. 9-12 MPGish loaded or unloaded.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I had an 87 class C motorhome with the 460 and I know the mileage isn't that good but you gotta love the power.

No problem. If you get the gear ratio off the door jamb, just do a search on google for the code and you should be able to find what it means that way.
