6.8l triton V10 trade for 6.2l V8??

With the other thread I've got going. What are the power/maintenance/economy differences. I found a 2011 v8 and I am thinking of tradingfor it

I own both a 2012 F550 V10 and 2011 F250 6.2l, and I originally thought I needed the V10 to handle the 15-16k loads I haul. After towing quite a few 11-12k loads with my F250, I am very confident the 6.2 would do the job of my V10.

The big difference for me is weight of the truck, and I like that aspect of the F550/V10.

Ford seems to have done a great job with the 6.2L - the tranny helps immensely.

Compared to the 3-valve V10, it's probably just as good at towing. Visit the 6.2L forum to see what others are saying.

The other differences between a 2000 and a 2011? Make the decision almost a no-brainer - especially a warranty if it's still intact.

about 1 mpg difference between 2 trucks in my sig, though consider my 05 has got to be 500-1000 lbs heavier (curb wieght) ? the 6.2 does have impressive hp, though the low end tq is not comparable to the v10

Is the 6.2 just not as powerful as the v10 when it comes to torque

The torque numbers I believe are relatively close, it's the power band that's different. Make sure the truck has 4.30 gears and you won't know the difference
