If the price is cheap enough buy it. but remember diesel is getting awful expensive compared to gas. At least in the west.

If it has been sitting for just 2 or 3 years, I'd just change all the fluids (tranny, transfercase, differentials, flush the rad, ect) and see what else comes up after going over it. I wouldn't be too afraid of it, especially if it's cheap.
Kermmydog, here in the middle of WI, diesel and gas are about the same price. Almost kicking myself for not buying an IDI instead of my gasser. Almost. Hahaha

Around here regular is going for $3.85, mid grade for around $4, and premium is $4.25. Diesel is right around $4.19.

Umm, you do realize that's 4.25 a gallon for diesel and 4.82 for gas....
You're paying more for fuel than we are.

Yes but I'm saying there is much bigger gap in diesel prices were I am. It's normally around the dollar mark but it jumped last week. The reason our gas is so expensive is because the idiots that run our country think the answer to economic woes is more taxes. They don't hit diesel as bad because of the commercial use that follows it. It jumped another 5 cents today so of that 133.8 for 91, roughly 62 percent is all tax.

I have a 1995 F350 Powerstroke as my daily driver along with the occasional towing of various bits of equipment on the weekend. These trucks can be driven efficiently for what they are but you're not going to get great mileage unless you drive it easy. I agree with the point previously made concerning whether it's something that you actually need. Where I'm at premium is $.02 cheaper than diesel.

The op never said how much money. If its only 3grand then buy it. If the guy wants 10k, tell him you'll pass.
Price of truck helps decide if he "needs" it or if the cost of fuel is worth the purchase.
