Tired of getting stuck
Chalk it up to bad driving if you want but I'm sick and tired of getting stuck everywhere. After some thinking I've decided it's worth it for me to swap to 4x4. I have found a local donor parts truck that has everything but the tranny. I was wondering wondering what the main parts are that I need for the conversion. So far I've narrowed it down to:
-Manual tranny that is 4x4
-T-case
-front drive shaft
-front axle
What suspension parts do I need to swap out? I was wondering if there was any electrical work to be done. Is the computer any different? Does the rear drive-shaft bolt up the same way?

My case was a little different. I stripped down a Bronco to the frame with the axles still under it. Then I replaced all the wiring with it from a 1991 300 I6 2wd F150 and swapped in the computer from the F150 as well as the front clip, doors, motor and a different five speed transmission. The interior came from a 1991 Bronco. I dropped it all in with factory 1991 F150 wiring and connections. Everything works perfect. Everything looked about the same.
Swap in axle, driveshafts, transmission and transfer case. Steal a computer off a five speed truck.

Rear drive shaft will need to be shorter. Overall length of trans and transfer case is longer than just a 2wd trans, so you'll need a short shaft.

It's a F-150. The donor truck I bought the other day has everything except the tranny so I was thinking that all i need is a 4wd tranny with the t-case? The rest I should probably be able to swap right over. The donor truck is a single cab long box and mine is a super-cab short box and was wondering if the wheelbase was the same between the two so I could still use the rear shaft? I believe mine is 139.

I plan on putting in air lockers in over the summer because I got a free compressor and tank from a friend with some train horns.
