Odd code for old truck?
Hello to all!
First post and needs little guide about my truck code.
I'm not sure is it '55 or'56.
It sure looks like '56 but some says that some stuff is '55.
Code is: F60Z6ABX-10845.
Wheel base is 154".
How much this truck weights, can it be done to haul fullsize car?
Thanks,
T

Thanks for fast reply.
Yep, it was told that it is '56. Only odd is that looks like it has '55 dash/firewall.
This thing was put together in belgium in 1956, there is somekind plate indicating that on dash.
This started its journey as a firetruck. Perhaps ford send firetruck ones with old dashes ?
Frontgrill is '56 model.

That truck has the capabilities to haul one or two cars if set up right.
We would like pictures as it sounds like an interesting project.

yep, truck might be interesting piece, who knows...
I will take pics, as soon I manage to get in the truck....I went there 2 days ago and noticed that locks where frozen need to take torch with me and gently try melt the ice off. A funny thing was there is old metallic firefighter etc. hard hat in truck.

F60Z6ABX-10845
F60 = F600 / Z = 272 H/D V8 / 6 = 1956 / No A assembly plant code listed for 1956 (1953/55: Atlanta GA) / BX ? / 10846 should be the 1956 Numerical Sequence of Assembly.
I wonder if BX could be an abbreviation for Benelux (Belgium/Luxembourg/Netherlands).

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.
While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
The best photos and videos | Photobucket
Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).
When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).
Your pic will be placed in the post.
Hope that helps.

Hi, all.
Sorry for late reply..
Been fixing garage, so i could someday get truck inside for repair.
I took some pics, but like allways, forget to take shot from inside cabin, next time will get it.
I got offer for 1960 f600, rolling chassis, but no bed or cab. How much does that weight? I thought that i will buy it too.
It is duallie, 2 wd.
Thanks.

No major manufacture built fire trucks - Companies ordered cowl/chassis or cab/chassis and then built there style of firetruck on that chassis
The fire truck companies would order several chassis at a time to get some discount on price - Some of the original equipment companies would use up overstocked parts and pieces in building the chassis
Add in the overseas location and possible military involvement and all bets are off on a definitive answer.
