Yes... California and its DMV can suck it... To hell with their weight fees. Commie *******s.

Here are a couple pics if it helps... I did have to cut the exhaust off from the back of the cab to make this work.

Feels really light... I removed about 300lbs or so of stuff. Fortunately this is a one time event.

you should make a palette flat bed just for them, make the tail lights functional and attach license plate

Haha. Yeah. If I ever try to get it down to 2980 (the scale measures in twenties) (This is the next tier down in weight class) I might try that... Not sure if between the bed and the doors I could get it that low and I don't have much else to remove while keeping it drivable unless I put a 4 banger from a ranger in it to save 500lbs from the 390, np435, and the transfer case. I think that would be going a bit extreme.

Gotta know when to be happy with what I got. This saves me about $55 a year on registration. Going a tier down would only be another $20. It can be done but not really worth the effort. This took all of an hour to tear down and another hour to put back together.

My 78 f350 long wheel base dually is on a diet, but when I scale it, it while be in running weight. When I started, Henry weighed 7910 with $10 of petrol in him. I'm aiming for 5900 with both tanks full, all spare tires and everything else I'll need. Except cats.

Probably a few hundred in the flatbed, take off the outer dually wheels, bumpers, have only minimal fuel... All I can think he would be able to do

Scribe the door hinge position and pull'm and yea on the bed too. Put a sheet of 1/8 plywood on it, hang your tail lights, have it on E fuel wise and borrow some stock rims with little tires.

Haha... I'm not going that low. I was having to pay $80 extra each year due to weight... Now its $24. This update is FOREVER. That takes the edge off.

Maybe I should fill the tires with helium.

I bought a 89 f350 short wheelbase dually, 351w efi, zf42 5 spd. $450. The body was crap but the rest is good. Once I've changed the cab I'm scaling the cab & chassis with 800lb on it to represent the fuel weight. (front tank is almost full now). Then I'll start weighing things like buddies aluminum rims & tires, my steelies, etc and start taking it from there. I know theres a shorter drive shaft available and that might be the next wheelbase if I know for sure I'm not going to make weight.

that deck had a 7.5'x 11.5' 3/16" plate over 2x6 t&g over 2x3 c channel ribs on 2x6x 12' rails plus the subframe for the hydraulics x 2 pcs and all the outside frame / dress up metal. Thats my project metal now.

Sounds like a lot of work for $55. My time it takes to do all that is worth more than $55.

I'm glad I live in Missouri and don't have to deal with all that.

I'm just trying to save fuel when I go on tour with my 5th wheel, if I could get it down to 4900 I would, but I ain't paying to take off weight. No Jenny Craig for me.
