Marti-sheet original invoice sheet terms questions
I have bought(not here yet) a 1978 supercab 4x4 F-250,and sent for the build sheet and have some questions on what some terms mean,if someone can give me a hand-this is what it reads:F-250 supercab pickup truck 400 2V engine,8500 GVW, etc on the door plate. Your vehicle equipped with following options: Supercab option-Delete TuTone Paint(what does delete mean( Immersion heater(block heater or oil pan?) Ammeter and oil guages, tool storage box,Reduced noise exhaust system(?) Sliding Rear window. 4500 lb front axle(Dana 60 I presume?) Adjustable steering column,7:50 x 16 mud and snow tires, spare mud and snow tire and wheel, right hand spare tire carrier, leather steering covered wheel, light duty towing package(what is light duty?) vanity mirror, chrome low mount swinglock mirrors, speed control, white deluxe pickup box cover, fog lights, sliding rear window, deluxe heater(what does deluxe mean?) center facing rear seats,AM radio with digital clock, flipper window, tinted glass, visibility group(what is visibility group?), ICC cab lights, heavy duty 70 amp alternator, dual electric horns, security lock group(what is this?) aux oil cooler, bright grille( is this chrome?) , standard and heavy duty 68 amp dual batteries) ,convenience group( what is this?) ,tie down hooks, midship fuel tank w/standard tank, heavy duty front and rear shocks, heavy duty front springs and aux rear springs,Ranger XLT Lariat package. Sorry for the not so good typing. Questions in parantheses. Thanks,Randy

I believe part of the "Lariat" package was two tone paint. If you wanted a single color, then the two tone option was deleted.
The heaters were for the block. On a V8 a heater element replaced the regular freeze plug on each side of the block.
In some areas (in particular NYC) they required a quieter exhaust system than normal, this included a different muffler than standard.
I believe the security lock group included a hood lock, glove box lock, locking fuel cap(s) and a spare tire lock.
This doesn't answer all your questions but it's a start.

Marti-sheet original invoice terms questions
Thank you very much for all the info, maybe I'll see about getting that book,I really appreciate all the help Number D. and others. I will have some more questions when I get the truck yes it is an e-bay purchase. Lots of pictures and lots of questions later it is on the way from CA to here in WY. Hope it goes better than the other purchase on CarsforSale from a private buyer! I got it broke off in me pretty good. This guy is reputable from what I know so hope for the best. The state of WY has none in my price range and ones I have seen locally are maybe worse than my first mistake. It just burns me that the As Is no warranty protects the seller always, and the buyer from 12 or 1500 miles away just has the pics and conversations to go by. So yes I did it again, and bought another internet truck but hopefully it will be a solid truck with average things to repair. I will enlighten the forum about my first purchase at another time as I would like some other opinions on what I should do with it-part it out or sell for dramatically less than I paid for it. Thanks all-Randy

Well I'll be darned,I am a winchester nut myself having been there too many times myself! Used to have an 86 Win. in every cal. but one,but had to sell all for various reasons about 20 years ago. However I do competetive BPCR shooting with the single shot Shiloh Sharps rifle among others I own. This and ford trucks take up most of my summer weekends. Well kinda off topic so better go. Thanks Randy

I have a "few" 1886's in .45-70 & .45-90, but I'm really a '95 nut. Have an 1885 High Wall in .40-90SS, serial number 17X, Browning Bros Ogden U.T. marked on 36" #5 half round barrel.
Not too many buffalo left to shoot in 1885.

Marti report
Actually I had them all not quite at one time but not a 40-70 86. Had DST 40-82,50 EX, 50-100-450 ,33,38-56,45-90,45-70, None were pristine but from fair to very nice. Also have had a couple nice orig. Sharps, but they are gone to pay bills and other interests such as my BPCR,s as I have said. Also marriage and kids get in the way! Ha. They are not cheap.Neither is Ford Bump disease. Have had in the past a Ranger 2WD I drove through high school with 200,000 miles and all I did was a starter or two ,power steering pump, and the factory air cond. never had to be charged with freon all the time I drove it! On our ranch,we had a 2wd 1978 300 six,it wouldnt' go around anthing on the highway but filling stations, but ran forever. A 1979 blue F-150 .4x4 supercab Ranger loaded(which I sure wish I had it now) A 1972 Ranger XLT 2wd tuo tone blue ran forever, still have the original bed with nearly pristine tailgate, its my trailer now.Have a 2005 supercrew love it,but the fancy ones of today do not have the character and class of these older ones.
