Hello all,

I'm trying to decide between a 1962 unibody with a Chevy 305 and TH350 or a 1963 with original 250 and 3 speed. Wha's the differences between these 2 models? Is it better to go with one over the other? Any suggestions/advice is welcome.

The 1962/63 Ford Uni-bodied pickups are nearly identical. the only real difference is the grille. The engines used were either a 223 or 262 I-6, or the 292 V8. There's no such thing as a 250 engine for pickups.

Chevy engines in Fords are frowned upon around here.

 

Believe the body, engine, and chassis condition of trucks and the asking prices would be major consideration as to preference, along with what you intend to use the truck for. As example air conditioning might be a possible advantage of the Chevy engine, if you want AC. There is much to consider and the measurement scale is not clearly defined. You could remove the Chevy engine, transmission from the one truck and sell it for perhaps enough to buy a more appropriate engine, transmission, and in the process take on a lot of wrenching time.
Is performance an issue or is this a run to the dump or Box Store truck?
