Today I had my first decent tow with my new F250 6.2L... My buddy's BMW X5 calved on him so I trailered it back home, load weighed 6k at the scale. Truck towed like a champ, but I forgot to take pics...

 

 

So I missed taking pictures of a Tow, but here is the truck loaded for some fun... It sagged out quite a bit with this load, though there is still 1000lbs of payload available. I installed Firestone Ride Rites since. We're loading up next Monday to head out again...

 

That seems like a odd place to put those nice snowmobiles. Whats wrong with using a trailer? Wouldn't it be easier?

Thanks for the compliments. I love that sled deck. Spent a couple years hauling a trailer around, and for 2 sleds its a pain in the butt manouvering around parking lots and I find it to be a little more of a headache than necessary. On one trip I busted a tooth trying to fix trailer wiring, some jerk stole our hitch pin and we nearly lost the trailer coming off the mountain, constantly watching tires etc...cuts down on the freeminding fun lol. Personally I prefer the deck.

Those are Duratrac tires. I also really like them!!

 

I see you have some very good points there. I like my tires too, hardly never use the 4wd either with them now.

 

What size Duratrac tires are those? I'm looking to replace my OE's with something a little more knobby and awesome looking. I've got the OE 17 inch rims on my 11 XLT. I wanted to keep the OE rims and try to put a 315/65 r17 on them. Think it would work? I'm really a newbie to tire sizes and what would fit without leveling or lifting and not rubbing.

 

I put on stock size, 275-70-18 on mine. The 305's would have rubbed, so I am thinking the 315's will rub with your 17" rims.

 

My tires are Goodyear Duratrac in 315/70R17, stock wheels. They measure close to 35" and rub very slightly on near full lock. My truck does have a heavy service front end and seems to sit higher in the front than most f250's I've parked beside. Very happy with the duratracs.

All that weight being behind the rear axle makes the truck squat like that. It also takes weight OFF the front, so it's even worse-looking

How is a snowmobile weighted? Heavier in the front or back? If it's the back, turn them around on that platform...

 

Majority of the sleds weight is sitting right over the axle, but yes, there is a good bit of weight sitting behind it for sure. I weighed the truck loaded like it is and it sits at 4040kg which is 8080 lbs roughly so Im within my limits. We were impressed with the stability of the truck loaded like this. I expected much more roll and sway but its very solid.

I'll have it loaded like this again next week and will take a pic with the air bags inflated.

 

Had another tow this week. A load of roof and wall metal. Nice low load. Hauled 2600kms, truck averaged 13mpg speed of 105km/h... Really like driving this thing!!
