My experience says that if your dead set on a ext cab get a chevy. They are bigger. I see no real use from the ford ext cab it reminds me of a larger version of the 80's toyota xtra cabs. Good for a bag or a stereo system. I wouldn't trade anything for my crew cab. I've got 2 teen boys and a baby and they can all ride comfortably in the back seat. Heck I have a 06 dodge 4 door non mega cab for work and the difference in room between the ford is amazing. The dodge is a joke for a 4 door truck.

Until you buy a trailer.

I used to be a longbed thumper myself untill I bought a trailer to haul my Jeep on.

Now I have a 16 foot bed whenever I need it.

When I bought my new 2010, I went with a supercab long bed truck. Got rid of that truck, for a used truck so choices where limited.. When I'm in the market for my next truck, it will almost definitely be a crew cab long bed truck. Hopefully, a dually with an aluminum flatbed on it too..

I agree, just me, the wife, and our 60 lb dog who rides on the platform made by folding down the back seat with a pad on top. Also makes a nice area to carry my rifles, etc.

I use my truck for hunting and want the shortest wheel base possible, so I could manuever over rough, washed out roads/terrain, parking lots.

I have a 99 ext cab, 4wd, 7.3 short bed and love it. 24mpg on I-40
So lots of folks have lots of needs and not all the same.

See ya, Les

Count me as in the SuperCab minority. My Son is in college, wife passed several years ago so I don't need back seats. I do wish two things, though... It would be great if the back seat in the '14 folded the same way as it does in my '94 where you can get a flat platform from the back of the front seats to the back of the cab. I also wish you could get a SuperCab in King Ranch or Platinum trim, but I reckon I saved a few bucks there.

When I ordered my '14 I was told that any SuperCab body above XL trim is special order only. Adding the full 8' bed made my truck into something the dealer has only heard of, but never seen. Go figure.

funny thing is i think its odd to see a ext cab short bed superduty here in New Jersey, especially since all the used trucks i see are ext cab long beds....

My first truck was a 1990 F350 Extended Cab 8' bed take it to the dealer tomorrow to trade in for my 2014 F350 which was delivered today. I love Extended cabs and need a 8' bed for my 10' extended cab over camper.

We had to trade our extended cab 02 F250 V10 4x4 short bed in for our 02 F250 4x4 crew cab V10 short bed. 4 guys being 5'7" ridding in an extended cab just ain't right especially after working and already you are uncomfortable. Frankly I am glad we got our 02 crew cab now. If it was a long bed it might be a bit better but we have a trailer and 3 other long bed trucks so it doesn't really matter. Plus my dad most of the time has problems parking in the tiny parking lots in our small town just imagine a long bed crew cab. We would probably be out of gas before it is parked! LOL.

I don't have kids or a dog so I love my extended cab, plenty of room for my work stuff and the occasional passenger. Haven't had any problems with flexing or rattling doors and i'm pushing 100,000 miles.

99% of the time it's me or me + 1 in my truck.

I had Supercrews for years when the kids were growing up. Now that they drive and rarely if ever ride with me, I don't mind the Supercab.

Still....I would go back to the 4 'real' doors if I ever got another truck.
if for no other reason than the "need it every so often" factor.

I've had extended and crew. I'll take crew every day. I went from a 142" wheelbase truck (extended cab short bed) to a 172" wheelbase truck (crew cab long bed). Bed length went from 6'-9" to 8'-0" which is 15". So then the crew cab is 15" longer than the extended. So ask yourself, "how could I use an extra 15 inches?"

One word of caution, my 04 ECSB had fold up rear seats... my 02 CCLB Lariat has stationary rear seats. I looked at several 03 and 04 CCs that had a folding rear seats and I'd prefer that, but the truck I bought was just too clean.

It also got rid of squeaky doors going to a crew cab. That alone was worth it.

I have two labs....one an old guy about 130 pounds. He could not even sit comfortably on the rear seat of my CC/LB......so took the seat out. Now they both have a great bed in there. Even an Xtra cab would not have been big enuff.

Yup me too, When I have any serious hauling I use my 16' utility trailer
and the shorter wheel base makes it alot easier to manuever, also have an older 18' travel trailer which I am able to stick in some tighit places.
