99 f250 slams in 2nd
I have a 99 F250 with a E4OD tranny. It shifts great except when it goes into 2nd it shifts so hard you almost swallow your teeth. Does anyone have any ideas. Is my tranny going out or a sensor going bad. A engine code of P1141 came up but I can't get into all-data to research it.

An E4OD will never shift right in a '99. It doesn't have the sensors that the '99 PCM requires. Unless you modified it the truck has a 4R100 transmission.
Is the OD OFF light flashing? That would indicate a trans code is stored. Many tools that can read engine codes will not read trans codes.
You could have a stuck accumulator valve. It is located in the pan.

most likely the 2-3 shift valve is sticking in the bore. it does this because its aluminum on aluminum and because the 2-3 is a direct clutch. Your best bet is too call BTS and order the steel valve kit for 20bucks and replace all three aluminum ones. My 04 was doing this until i swapped mine, now its better than stock

Can you explain that to me? The original question was on the 1-2 shift. The 2-3 shift valve doesn't do ANYTHING during a 1-2 shift. And what do you mean by the 2-3 is a direct clutch? I don't understand that at all.

My 99 F250 does this exact thing almost all gears shift great except 2nd to 3rd. If i lay off the gas i just get a clunk but if i forget to take my foot off the gas and get a very hard slam. Any explanations? Have not checked for codes but the OD has never flash...do i need to?
thanks for any help
I know we have talk about this a couple times SuperDutyScaler but i still can't figure out what going on with it.

when i talked to Brian he said as long as you drop the pan and there is no metal or large chunks of clutch material on the magnet then your good. The main problem is the aluminum vales inside the valve body. Aluminum on aluminum wear and grove and causes poor shifts etc. After he explained why the transgo kit would fix all my problems i ordered it and I'm waiting to put it in my truck Saturday.
