On a similar but not the same note...Old jap motorcycles had a maintenance section in their skinny little manuals. Most things ended with "this procedure should be performed by you local ****** dealer".

At least these old tractors appeared to be built so that servicing and repairs are relatively simple. Most things could be done with basic tools and basic knowledge. Parts are readily available and relatively cheap.
Heck, a valve grind kit for this sucker is only $100 and it includes all new valves, springs, keepers, guides, etc. A bottom end kit including pistons, rings, cylinder sleeves, bearings, etc is about $400.
And, so far I haven't seen anythig that states anythng about a special tool or taking it to the dealer.....nice.

On the Jap bike issue...I have an old Honda CB900 Custom, somewhere along the way I ended up with a complete factory service manuals for it (not one of those crappy Clymer manuals) Its been a bit helpful over the years, but the old Honda is pretty bullet proof and I've never had to do much to it anyway
