Thanks guys. One of the reasons I asked about that is for my kids. IF they come with me, they will actually get credit for the day(s) missed from school if they visit an educational place like that during their trip and do a report. The only problem would be if they have their end-of-the-year testing or a bunch of ballgames during that week. My oldest is very interested in any history about Lincoln and that period. I am too.

When I go somewhere truck related I try to make a vaction out of it. I try to visit as many FTE members as I can, which will be taken care of with the meet and greet. I also like to incorporate visiting local attractions. The Lincoln sites when I was down by Truckdog. We also went to Gettysburg when I picked up my panel truck some years ago in central PA. BTW, that is a place I think everyone should visit. If you have the time I would suggest any of you that can, take a week to do this and check out nearby attractions and ones that on your route.

Gettysburg should be on everybody's bucket list. I'll never forget it as long as I live.

Thanks guys... The more stuff to tempt Doc and family to attend the better!

Please if you haven't done so go back to the first post in this thread and eMail me so I have everyone on a contact list. As Doc said so well in Truckstock prep "I don't want surprises coming up my drive". This is for FTE members on this board and I want to know who's coming. I'll start sending out eMail blasts (isn't that what the kids call it?) soon.

The Lincoln stuff is well worth it and their are Lincoln connections all over Central IL. Check out David Davis Mansion (Cloverlawn) in Bloomington.

When I lived in Bloomington going to ISU the elderly man that lived next to us was retired from the local newspaper- when he was young he took Carl Sandberg all over central Illinois for info on Lincoln- the stories he told and what he knew about Lincoln really was amazing. Doc if you go have the kids read the Sandberg stuff on Lincoln and be sure to rub the nose on the Lincoln statue- brings good luck to anyone that does it.

I will be there plus one if I can get the 54 back together again after the accident and painted. Normal is a great place to have it and only 3.5 hours from my home.

Hopefully gas won't be topping out at around $5/gal. That could put a damper on my being able to make the drive. Maybe you IL guys can put a call into your buddy Barry and have him do something about the fuel prices, George was able to control the price of gas when he ran the join.

When I set up that gmail account for Truckstock, it never did recognize your email address. I never figured that out.

There's only power if someone is running on the treadmill at all times. Each of you will have to take a hour shift and we'll keep rotating.
Just kidding... we had all modern conveniences on the farm by the late 40's. I wasn't around then but that is what I'm told. We still have the outhouse and bedpans around though as reminders of the good 'ol days.

Are you bringing the disco ball Garry?

Don't worry Chris... I promise this will be much more about trucks than PJ's. Also, thanks for posting the tourism links for me.
