been gathering stuff up....
havent been on here in forever so here's a little update. we finally have all the running gear gathered up. '03 crown vic frt end and rear end. going with ranger rear springs and shackles. we have a complete '96 exploder with 5.0. just found a ford motorsports efi conversion harness on craigslist new in box at a bargain. pretty excited about that as it is a simple deal compared to modifying the exploder harness that uses fuel tank temp, 4 o2 sensors, etc...still have to figure out what we will do for column. pretty much decided we will install hydroboost for the 4 disc and still need to gather that up. wish i could find a better cab that is affordable. ours needs a roof(i have a donor roof), inner and out cab corners, rocker, cowl sides, part of the floor...that what i see and we havent really torn into the cab! we have one rear fender done(did away with the spare tire notch too) the other is almost done. fixed rust on the inner aprons so they are pretty well done. done a fair amount of metal work on the doors and other frt sheet metal. we trimmed stuff off the rear end except i think i'll leave the factory 4 link mounts as we may convert it later. i havent verified if they will interfere with install so they may still have to go. anyone want the front or rear suspension? steering box looks like it "may" have been rebuilt. i don't need the stuff in the way but hate to scrap it if someone could use it. the 292 and 3 spd i would like to find a home for as well. engine was rebuilt by p.o. and sounds great. tranny looks like typical 50+ year old tranny.

picked up our ranger rear frame section yesterday. got the shackles and springs off the 55. removed the shackles from the ranger rear half. the ranger tail i got is a later one that uses a pocket for the spare tire with a winch. it looks like it will work great for the rear crossmember. measured the donor explorer tank and it appears it will work great for inside the frame fuel tank.

Glad to hear you're making progrss.
I'm with you, I hate scrapping parts when I know that somewhere somebody needs them. Hopefully someone will step up and take them off your hands. Maybe an ad in the classifieds or local craigslist.
Sounds as if you have a great plan for your truck, good luck

shackles and springs are in. my son was sooooo excited to roll the rear end in it. rear end in place but havent welded the tube saddles so we can get the pinion angle when the time comes. the ranger springs are MUCH more quiet than the old springs and shackles. the rear end is over the springs and looks to be about a 4" drop. he is eager to get the frt torn out to do the frt crossmember. there is a good swap meet this wknd about 80 miles away so i'm not sure how much will get done this wknd.

Hey Rastiss,
Sounds like fun up there in Wichita Falls! Do you have any pics?
What year/model truck are you doing? I'll keep my eye open down here in Central Texas - It would be a lot less work if you had a solid cab. Sounds like that one is challenged a bit. We had a lot of rot with our '50 F1 - had both rear cab corners replaced, the entire floor, firewall, door posts, etc. - that part took forever.
