Just noticed something...

I was driving around town the last few days and I noticed a few 3rd gen expy's with a black lower front air dam or fairing under the front bumper cover. When did Ford start using them or is mine just missing?...I bought mine used so I don't know the complete history of it,but doesn't look like its ever been in an accident...If the newer models use it ,can one be fitted to an earlier model(08) without too much trouble?...If any one knows, let me know please...

No,we're talking '07 and newer Expeditions....I guess you could call it a lower chin spoiler....I don't know....I just looked on Tasca's website and I didn't see it listed...

Can you try and get a pic of one ? I'm curious to see what this looks like.
I wonder if it's the ground effects kit from the FunkMaster Flex version.

I'll try to get a pic,but all of ones that I've seen are on what appers to be on an EB or a Limited, nothing otherwise fancy about them...you know when I look at my EB,it looks like the space between the ground and the bottom of the front cover does look sort of excessive....I don't know though....

Nope, that's not it....it is below that part of the bumper cover and the actual "spoiler" part of it is about half way back to the leading edge of the tire and it angles inward more toward the center....I'm going to have to go to a dealership and see if the new ones have it and take some pictures....

Bryce you really have me curious now.
I wonder if it's the rubber-like air deflector thing that boxes in the radiator and its just come unpinned from the front and is hanging down.

Not my expy, pic borrowed from "DF5.4" on other board.

I'm gonna keep an eye out too and see if I can find one.

Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking too....On my 91 SuperCoupe,if that lower air deflector/spoiler/dam isn't in place or missing,it affects the cooling capabilities of the radiator and intercooler....I know we're not supercharged, but maybe it can help with engine cooling....I'll keep you posted and maybe some pics also...

Well I can't seem to get my pics to upload from my phone, but this air dam is definitely on the newer models...I passed by a dealer today and they had new one on an articulation ramp and I got some good shots of it,but can't get 'em loaded...I'm gonna keep trying....

So far this is what I have been able to come up with. Starting in 2011 the 2WD models had an additional air deflector under the front bumper. I have not seen a 4WD model that has this so I'm assuming it's a 2WD only piece.

I haven't seen any in person because up here in the northeast everyone has 4WD versions.

Was the one you took pics of a 2WD version? Maybe if yours is you can retrofit it.

Yeah come to think of it,every one that I've seen has been two wheel drive....I've got good pics of it but my dumb phone won't load the pics....I'm going to bring my digital camera with me the next time I go downtown and take some more....It's basically a flat strip of black plastic that is curved on the ends and it hangs lower than the bumper cover, between the cover and the front crossmember..I may have to retro fit one to mine....I wonder if it is for models with the towing package and heavy duty cooling...

I only see the bottom trim on mine.
I had it and the tow hook covers painted gloss black to match the truck
Originally the tow hook covers are just unpainted plastic.
