Using a turbo blanket on a 38R

Since I now have to buy another 38R turbo, I'm going to get the 1.15 housing and ceramic coat the exhaust side. I was thinking of also adding a turbo blanket to further hold in the heat, causing an even faster spool-up. I just don't like turbo lag.

I know, the 1.0 housing is the true remedy for that but that's what my first 38R had on it and I want more airflow on the top end to realize the higher horsepower potential of my 238/100 injectors.

Has anyone used a turbo blanket on their GTP38R or GTP38 turbo? I'm wondering if the turbo blanket will cause excessive deterioration of the exhaust housing like I've seen some say. Also, how much did it help with quicker spool-up?

Thanks,
Drake

P.S. You gotta love that these 38R's are throw-away turbos! I had around 200 miles on my first one before it blew an oil seal on the exhaust side. I drove it without my intercooler pipes for about 35 minutes (including on the highway) while getting the engine up to full operating temperature before doing a hot re-torque on my head studs since I had the WOP Fire Rings on my heads. IC pipes were off to insure speedy access to my head studs before the engine cooled back down. I had to learn the hard way!

Drake,
I run the S468 with the turbo blanket and you wont feel any seat of the pants difference, I also ceramic coated the up pipes, down pipe and heat wrapped them..Our builds are very close to the same and here is what I am working on with the turbo...Tried the .90 exhaust housing, bottom end was great, spooled like you wouldn't believe. The problem was EPB, the turbo was hitting 52 psi boost, exhaust back pressure was through the roof..Currently using a 1.10 exhaust housing and the bottom end driveability sux,EGT's are higher on the bottom end but better on top end, turbo is laggy, cruse @60 mph with no boost, max boost is now 40psi but EBP is manageable..I have a 1.0 housing on order and hopefully is will give me a happy medium..
Befor going to the S468 I had the 38R, but the 238/100's are taking it to the max (IMO)..Your EGT's will be some what higher in DD and a little better WOT...IMO, you are having to buy a Turbo, ditch the throw-a-way, go with the T4 mount and choose a buildable turbo that your set-up will appreciate..
