New Member from SLC, UT - '64 F100

New member from Salt Lake City, UT. Thought it was time I officially joined rather than stalked this great resource. Had my '64 F100 for 3 years. Picked it up in WYO and drove it home to SLC. Has a special order 262, 80k original miles. Only mods so far are suspension drops and wheels and tires. Looking forward to sharing the tips and tricks with y'all.

Truck looks great man. I'd like to get mine at that height. What have you done? How does it ride? Bottom out? Specs on wheels? I'm going to copycat you. Thanks, Bill

Also......what am I seeing on the side of your bed? Holes?

Welcome to FTE

The 262 1V I-6 was an extra cost RPO (Regular Production Order) in 1964 F100/250's. The original purchaser may have ordered it, or bought it off the lot that way.

15" beauty rings were available for 1941/48 Mercury's. The hubcaps are also from a car or possible an F1, but I cannot make out the design. 1948/52 F1's used the same hubcaps as late 1947, 1948 Ford cars.

Love the stance and patina on the truck! You could make a fortune if you could bottle that and sell that.

I'm running a Sid's drop axle on the front with dearched leafs. Took the helpers out of the rear and 3 more leafs and had those dearched. It's a little stiffer of a ride, but no other issues. I have about an inch to the stock bumpstops on the front. Wheels are 16" off of a '54 pickup, maybe against some guys' rules, but my favorite wheel cap/combo. I personally don't care for the bottlecap style caps.

Yes, ordered off the lot with a 262.

Rings and wheels are 16". Wheels are off a '54 F100 I used to own, this style of cap was run on 53-56 F100s as well as older model Ford passenger cars.

I'm new to this type of suspension. I've messed with VWs of all sorts but don't know much about leaf springs. What is involved in dearching a spring? I've also come across the terms "reversed eyes". I don't know what that means either. I might load up my cycle once in awhile so I'm weary of a spring with half it's leafs removed. Have you hauled stuff with yours? I might flip my axle and clearance my frame. I'm hoping to get this taken care of before the weather gets nice. Thanks for the information.

6A-1130-A .. Hubcap-FORD letters painted blue-Reproduced / Late 1947, 1948 Ford cars, 1948/52 F1's.

BAAA-1130-A .. Hubcap-FORD letters painted red / Obsolete, not repro'd, hard to find / 1953/56 F100.

16" beauty rings from a 1941/48 Ford car. Like Merc's came w/15" wheels.

Your local spring shop can reverse or dearch as far you wanna go. I have a little, not a lot. I'm planning to do air shocks in the back for extra rigidity when needed as I plan to pull a trailer occasionally. I just REALLY didn't want to cut to the frame. Let me know how yours goes!
