Sacramento Ford Mechanics

Just found out that the 2000 F-150 XLT that I purchased in September has a cracked head and either needs to be replaced or just straight up needs a new engine. (Mechanic said cost will be between $4500 and $5500 ballpark) to either repair or just get new engine. Looking for a local Ford mechanic or any references to someone who may be of help for a cheaper alternative in the Sacramento region. Thanks

Interesting that the head repair will cost the same as a new engine. If that is the case, new engine. I don't know anyone in the Sacto area, but I do know someone down here in Fresno. I know that doesn't help you much. Maybe when JagRed sees this post he will chime in with someone, as he lives in that area.

There's a shop in Auburn called Quality Automotive that's treated my boss really good. About Quality Automotive | Ford, Lincoln, Mercury Auto Repair | Auburn, California

There's also Orangvale diesel, but every time I have contacted them they have a few weeks wait.

Sorry to hear about your engine problem. Unfortunately, my list of trustworthy mechanics in the area is down to 0. I would get a second opinion on the problem. My estimate on replacing a head would about $1,500. Good luck, Jag

I know a guy who does automatic trans that is really good (Orangevale) and have a line on someone who does rears (Rancho Cordova) but no motor work. I generally do my own work on the motor but I do have a second car ie takes longer than expected....

I had the 360 engine in my '68 F250 replaced two years ago and it has run fine since then. The shop that did it is Hurricane Auto 5528 Auburn Blvd near Garfield. He's a good mechanic and also works on my 95 T-bird.
