Hi, Im new here to this site but I hope you guys can help with some information. I recently bought a 1950 F-5 dumptruck with a Coleman 4x4 conversion.I found it on the web in Idaho and it appears to be an ex county truck. The truck is in pretty good condition minus all the dents in the sheet metal and I hope to have it running this week as I just put a new wireing harness in it.Im looking for any parts books or manuals or copies of them or anyone who would share their knowledge for the Coleman conversion itself.The only thing Ive found on the web is a few pictures.Thankyou for any information you may you may have .

 

hello and welcome to the group. I dont know anything about Colemans but I can tell you we would all love to see a few pictures of your new baby!
my 53 marmon Herrington came from Idaho also.

I passed on a f350 Coleman just before I started on this site. It had these big 'rounded front hubs like cast iron 'baby moons'. Is that what you have? I could have got it pretty cheap.........

M-H converted more Fords than Coleman did. I think Coleman did more Chevy conversions. NAPCO is another all wheel drive converter. I don't know how rare a Ford Coleman is... Chuck might know. Several months ago there was a story about NAPCO in Vintage Truck magazine. In this they mentioned M-H and Coleman.

Yes it does have the big front Big baby moons. They really had a unique system. Ill post pictures soon.
