120K mile maintainance??

2008 Expy at 120,000 miles. Runs and drives great. Wondering about what I should be replacing to keep it in top shape.

So far, I've replaced the belt idler bearings and belt, rear brakes, lower front ball joints, and wheel alignment. Of course, it's had the front axle seal done 3 or 4 times, as well as the window regulator! Had Mobil1 in it all it's life.

I've put off doing the plugs, because it's ran SO well and delivered excellent fuel mileage, but I know I HAVE to do them now. What else should I be expecting to change beside filters, etc.?

Anyone do any rear suspension work? Starting to hear a slight "clunking" noise in rear over washboard roads and bumps.

Wife loves this truck and want to keep it or else replace it with identical, lower mile unit. Seems to me I might as well keep this one and freshen it up.

Guess it would all depend on what you have done prior:

Coolant
Brake Fluid
Fuel filter

Would be a safe beat that the shocks/struts have seen better days and could use replacement. Could be the source of the clunk but hard to tell on any guesses with the description. If she's running good and your wife is still happy (Most important point of all) then keep her. You've already taken the big secondary depreciation hit at 100k so if it was me I'd stick with the truck I have.

Whatever it says in the service manual. Struts all the way around.

I crawled under it today and everything seems fine (nothing loose or showing wear in bushings, etc.) but I think I should replace the shocks just based on age/mileage.

Anyone know about shock replacement on these trucks? The shocks are inside the coils. They are available as a unit which would dramatically reduce labor... should be just the nuts on the top and the bottom bolt.? They are obviously more $$, though.

Will I need a wheel alignment after?

Looks like Rockauto has both options available (coils & struts or just struts).

What others have already said + have you touched the differential yet?

My 2010 is still low mileage, but FWIW my 2000 Expy (I know - different vehicle than a '08) needed shocks by 75k (went with Bilsteins & absolutely love 'em) and serviced the rear differential at the same time. Did the spark plugs at 100k, and now at 120k I'm looking at the ball joints.

No, it's not just a couple of bolts. The rears are easier but not easy. The front require the removal of a lot of components and realignment. If you don't have air tools or exp. with suspension leave it to a trusted shop.
