Auto Meter Gauge Install

I have been hanging around here for a while now. So far I have been addressing regular maintenance issues. I decided to spend some real bucks so I could keep an eye on things as I progress into PMS madness.
Here is my new project.

Thanx Riff Raff, I also used these instructions
http://www.riffraffdiesel.com/mm5/RE..._Gauge_Pod.pdf

I went with the under dash mount so the first thing to go was the old brake controller. This Tekonsha Prodigy has been sitting on the shelf for years. Good time to put it in while things are moving.

out with the old

After unscrewing the old BC I set out to get all the wires thru the firewall. Drilled a 1" hole in the clutch master plate for the supplied grommet.

I already had a tapped hole in the exhaust so pyro was a snap.
I had a few tense moments when the trans plug started rounding off. I re grouped with a 6pt. socket and a little torch heat, pop she was out.

Drilled and tapped my AIH delete plug and ran the boost tube.

Then I soldered a bunch of wires and connectors.

I needed a hole in the cubby for trailer brake wires.

Got her all buttoned up and took a test drive. All was well so I hooked the trailer for tomorrow and all appears normal. Dash light dimmer works right.

It was a pretty busy day but I am having a beer now.

Looks great Doug! My next group is going down there I think, then I'll move up top.

Not a bad place for the break controller. Mine's under the steering wheel, and I like it, but can't see the light.

Glad your dimmer is working too, that makes a difference IMO

Nice work, I have these on my wish list/todo list.

I love my Prodigy by the way. Went from Drawtite.

Right on, I don't know what took me so long to put the Prodigy in. I dug out the paperwork just to remember how to use it. Looks like I bought it in 05 and ran it about a year before I traded my Chebby.

Smart brakes = really smooth
Can't wait to pull the 5 er.
Guess it was a good day for trailer brakes, I needed them after trying to run the gauges up.

One question, does a guy need to bolt down the gauges with the supplied hardware or will the interference fit in the pod be OK?

HMMM, that is exactly what I was doing. (links from that thread)

I am concerned that there are few tow specific options.

He has a heavy tow tune and an economy/light tow tune on mine. If I was towing, I would use the heavy tow tune though.

I've got a heavy tow (45hp) and medium tow (60 hp). I've only used 60hp tow, and am thinking about ditching the 60 for the 80 tow. I can always click over to 45 if I need it in steep terrain. All gauges look fine in 60 driving hard on medium slopes.

His website shows a different set of tunes. Did you custom order, or how does that work?

I don't think Jeff has matt's tunes, but I could be wrong.

Yes, sorry. I have Php. I don't know how gear head compares, guess I should have looked at what he offered first. My point is, I think I can manage to keep everything in the safe zone even with the lower weight (higher hp) tune. I still want the 45hp heavy tow in my arsenal, but I believe I can handle most situations fine with the 80 hp light tow. It's just something for you to consider and think about when you talk to gear head.
