Difference between F series and E series 6.0L

This is my first post hear. Im pulling my motor on my 06 E350. I was wondering what the difference betweeen the E series and F sersies motor. My E series has 235hp@3300rpm and 440ft/tq@2000. From my understanding the FICM is different and the main computer. Does any body have any info?

What exactly do you want to know? You are incorrect about the FICM. They are identical to the F-Series versions. And yes the E-Series versions are detuned to a lower output than the F-Series. As far as the engine itself goes, the internal parts between the two are virtually identical. Might I ask why you are intending on pulling the engine?

Bad O ring in HPO System

Motor runs good untill it heats up then it dies.
My FICM has no access to it at all. There is no access cover to see if there are 4 or 7 pins. FICM is completely sealed.
Pulled motor to:
1) replace and rebuild HPO system
2) Replacing Head Gaskets w Ford OEM gaskets and ARP Head Studs
3) EGR Delete w New Oil Cooler
4) Have the fuel Injectors Bench Tested while its out
5) Also check wear inside turbo

BULL*****. Remove the three 8mm bolts securing the coolant degas bottle and set aside. Remove the air cleaner to give you access to the three 10mm bolts that secure the FICM with the mounting bracket to the engine compartment. Once removed, use a 6mm allen key to remove the four fasteners that secure the FICM itself to the mounting bracket.

Did you lift the body, or do it the back breaking way out the front? Is this a regular van body or cutaway?

Oh yea, I ask the difference is that I knew it was detuned and I'm not sure why? Reduce the heat maybe?

That is correct. To be honest, that engine never should've made its way into the engine compartment of an E-Series. Any more heat generation than there already is in such an isolated engine compartment, is putting safety into question.

Oh i get it now! my question wasnt how to access the FICM to remove it from the van.
Its been out of vehical and on the shelf couple weeks now.
My question is that it is different then what im seeing on the f series.
My FICM is completely sealed shut w rivits. No small access panel to the 4 or 7 pins for testing voltage and it can not be split in half to replace or rebuild the power supply inside the FICM

IF that is true, your FICM is not OEM. I would assume you are not the original owner? How long have you had it?

Yes I am the original owner. Purchased Nov 06. The only work done at the shop was AC compressor replaced and several AC flushes. The first 5 yrs ran great. the last 1 1/2 yrs Replaced Altinator, Vacuume pump, Glow Plug Relay, AC compressor w various AC parts and now its been sitting for Hot no run issue. I'll talk to Tom at my favorite Ford Parts counter about this FICM. When I pulled it I noticed its different and maybe its part of Ford/International detuning for the E series.

The replacement FICM for ALL 6.0L powered 2003 to 2007 F-250 to F-550 and E-Series from 2004 to 2010, all comes up to part number 4C3Z-12B599-ABRM when looked up in Ford's Microcat system. With that in mind, that tells me they are all identical. As far as I know, it's the PCM calibration that determines power and torque output.

Ok Thanks for checking. I think I confused the PCM(if the PCM is located to the left of the degas bottle?) for the FICM. The Location thru me off. You were right by saying its behind the degas bottle on the inside of the fender. I just checked n seen it there.
Sorry for my dumb... mistake.

Do you know of any other differences from the E-350 6.0 to the F-350 6.0? I have a 2005 E-350 6.0 and the cans are a little harder to find information on.

What specifically are you wanting to know?
