Off road and racing

Sorry if this in the wrong area. I am kind of new to posting. Just seeing if anyone around is into Tough Truck racing. I have been doing it off and on since about 2003. Just looking to meet some guys who are into more than just mud or rock crawling.

I have a rig thats a great candidate for it and I have lots of parts just no time and is there really a large group doing this somewhat local?

I have seen it a few times here in Mo, once or twice at the Springfield fair grounds and in Lebanon before the demo derby.

Other wise looks like lots of traveling involved? And no worried about the location of the posting you are from Missouri and this is the Mo chapter thread, so its all good.

Stop on by the feb chat b/s thread and say hello.

I wouldn't say that there is a large group. Most of the time just a few guys. Sometimes some guys from my 4x4 club show up to race but most don't have dedicated rigs.
I race at the one 4x4 jamboree in Springfield and did race at Lebanon a few years ago at the demo derby. I race a orange and black 79 1/2 ton. I race about 5 to 6 times a year and travel a little mostly within about 1 to 2 hours drive. I race because I can't afford to keep up with the mud or pulling guys. I have maybe 2grand in my entire truck. IMO a guy can't just through money at a truck and dominate, unlike pulling or mud racing. I've beat high dollar trucks and have been beaten by junkyard specials.
However, the thing that makes it great is just trying to put on a good show for people. The best show by far is in Miami,OK. Everything from built trucks to junk cavaliers show up and it's always standing room only in the crowd.
I think there is a race at Lucas oil speedway the first weekend in april at the demo derby. If anyone is in the area come by and say hi. I will also prob be at Springfield 4x4 jamboree in June and Miami OK in June as well. And if you live in the Springfield area my club meets the first weekend of the month just hit me up. If anyone hears about any races this year just let me know.

I am pretty sure I have seen your truck at Spg and Lebanon at the indoor arena race. If I remember right the jumps in Lebanon made it cough a little, but you did stay in it and gave it hell.

What is the name of your 4x4 club?

Yeah that was my truck. It was really the jumps that killed it. It just likes to die once in a while in 4low when I turn sharp. Probably the front true trac.

I've been in the ozark mountain 4x4 club since I was a kid. While there have been some knuckleheads in our club most are pretty good guys.

If you went to the race in lebanon, pretty much everyone racing except the blue jeep and the built red toyota was from our club.

You may have even seen us at the Spr. 4x4 jamboree. If you haven't, stop by and say hi to some of us this year. Although most of our rigs are nowhere close to as nice as yours in your pic.

I think the Jamboree in Spr. moved back to the middle of June and if you get ahold of me before I might have a ticket or two. I usually have a couple I don't use.

I was in the Ozark Mountain 4x4 club when I f irst moved to MO back in 95. I had my 76 Chevy back then before I rolled it, and my 73 CJ5 which I still have.
You all met at the community center on Oak Grove. I see you moved to the VFW on Division.
I used to help out at the mud bogs in Rogersville I think it was, near the sewage plant and at a couple of other places.
The only reason I quit the club was, you all didn't do any wheelin while I was in it. It appeared car shows, garage sales, can food drives and a picnic out at Chadwick was the most excitement the club had to offer. And for a wheeler from California who wheeled every weekend, that just didn't cut it for me.

What that ol blue truck is just a run around town rig that I am always trying to do more to it, to make it nicer. I have alot of projects and not enough time.....

Will look up the club if I make the jamboree this year, we had a FTE gathering with 3 trucks there last year and a a few family members. Maybe again this year who knows?

Lee you ever going to take the jeep to SMORR? I know just like me and the bronco, some day right?

2fords I remember those days I was prob about 12 or so then. I would say the club as a whole doesn't get together much aside from meetings but there are a few of us who do go to smorr quite a bit. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to recruit anyone just trying to find some more wheelers. Your blazer wasn't yellow was it? Anytime you guys get to smorr let me know I'll try and make it Anybody been to Disney Ok? Or if you guys have another FTE get together I try and meet up. I bring my 78 supercab and my orange pile if I get to use it.

My Chevy was a short bed truck with a convertable top. It did have a blazer spare tire rack on the back with a 39" tire and 2 gas cans and hi lift jack mounted on it. Warn winch bumper with a Warn 8274 winch.
It was white and yellow, with red and 2 blues in some fancy design I dreamed up and painted on it. lol.
It had 9" of lift with 39" tires. D60 front axle 14 bolt rear with lockers front and rear. Built 350, sm465 tranny and np205 transfercase. I either had my shell or just the double single roll bar with KC lites on it at any given time.

Someday Rich, I'll have my Jeep out at SMORR. It ain't gonna be anytime soon. Right now the F@#$%^g irs needs my money more thanI do. As they have deicided I didn't pay enough back in 2004-6 and sent me a nice big bill with plenty of interest and penalties. So I also had to pay a lawyer to get that bill down as much as they can.
