whats your mileage?
ok, so I plan on possibly buying a 99 f350 with the 7.3, with 8'' of lift on 40'' tires. has 193k on it, asking price is 14000. just curious as to how many people have high mileage fords with big lifts, what problems you encounter and what future problems (big ones) that I should expect. thanks for all your help

That's not really 'high miles'
It all really depends on how well it was maintained. The transmissions tend to go out and with a lift like that expect some drive line issues because they are rarely lifted correctly. Those tires are hell on your front suspension so be ready for ball joints and bushings.

With that kind of lift id expect a much shorter lifespan out of the brakes and steering components. Wheel hub units, ball joints, tie rods, and the list goes on. If the truck was never correctly geared for the tires expect a transmission in the near future. Also increased wear on U joints. Do you know the build date of the truck? Honestly I wouldn't expect that good of mileage maybe 12-13 highway. I don't consider that "high mileage" but if it wasn't maintained that's another story. Is this a full suspension lift and I really hope no blocks were used. 14,000 is way too high IMHO I see similar trucks in my area going for 8,000.00 because the lift really can kill the resale value.

Sounds over priced by at least 4 grand.
Typically trucks with big lifts sell for less than a nice clean stocker.
Around here a NICE clean 99 to 2000 stocker with 110 to 130k would sell for 11 to 13k.
If you really want it, put the screws to em.
Those trucks are alot harder to move than a stocker, and the dealer is well aware of that.
40 inch tires are hard on everything, especially if the truck has not been regeared to compensate for the big rubber.
It might look cool, but really ruins a truck if your going to use it for anything but posing in.
Yea, I know I sound like an old guy
Good luck
