I'm glad to see others are doing this as well. AE is a very popular tool.

For the gauge(s), I like the Aeroforce Scangauge. With additional senders it will give you EGT and Fuel Pressure as well as display every parameter the PCM monitors - in a single standard-size gauge. (It even powers up with the PowerStroke logo!) The AF Scangauge is a great diagnostic tool because it also does Injector Buzz Test and Cylinder Contribution Test as well as display and clear DTC's).
I'm tempted to do this - one gauge for all, right on the steering column. Couldnt pass up the F6, so I'll run that for awhile - upgrading from the edge. Just need to find a deal.

With access to friends with AE, decided to skip the OBDII gauge for now. Using the Edge for boost/EGT gauges, and have the isspro tranny gauge. Next step is getting the used F6 to work. I have to say, very happy with the support I'm getting. Jody wants a look at the hardware so I'm sending it to him.
Kind of a curious problem. I loaded no start, stock, 80e and 60T in positions 0-3, tunes I bought from DP after paying the re-license fee to move the unit to my truck, programmed the switch for 3 positions. With chip installed, turn the key to run, every 2nd or 3rd time, the SES light stays lit, and no start. Other times, it will start and run well in position 2 (80e). Love the power. Shifts are a bit firm. Tugly has some modified tunes that came with the F6 I'll try to address this. (we have similar PCM codes confirmed to work interchangeably on the tunes)
So in addition to the occasional SES after turning the key, I notice the engine stumbles or dies when switching from 2 to 1 (stock) or from 1 to 2. Either direction. When it dies, I get three lights for a second: WTS, SES and WIF. Reminds me of when I had a short in the harness over the valve cover. It does this consistently when switching 1 to 2 or 2 to 1.
The usual suspects have been checked: clean connector on the PCM. Did it 4 times before I was satisfied that was not the cause. When I pull the chip, the truck runs fine, no SES or stumbles.
We looked at how I'm transferring programs, checking auto verify, and making sure the status window reports all good.
It will be interesting to see what Jody finds on inspection of the unit. Worked good on Tugly's truck.

Jody called and confirmed a chip issue which the manufacturer is going to investigate and take care of. In the meantime, Jody programmed a new unit for me and is shipping it as I type this. Great service no question. It will be interesting to see what ended up killing that chip. I went over the installation practices again with him to make sure I'm not inadvertently causing it. Still possible I 'Tugged' it...

I asked Jody about pulling the grounds. He said not necessary. Just have the key out. Suprised, but ok. Pulled the chip again and buttoned her back up. Runs fine stock.
Jody's not sure what it is, but believes we've ruled out the chip. I'm leaning now towards the cable from the chip to switch. It has a pretty good flat spot in it. I wonder if a couple of wires are just close enough with smashed insulation to arc when switching from 2 to 1 or 1 to 2. Jody said during that switching, different wires are used, which, if right, would explain why I can switch from 2 to 3 and 3 to 2 with no issues, but 2-1 and 1-2 have the issue.
Looking back, I should have asked for another harness. I may have just enough slack to shorten the cable, cutting out the flat part, and re-IDC the wires back in the connector.
I might try that, but now need to travel for 2wks on business, so it will have to wait.
If this turns out to be the issue, rethinking that area where the wires pinch between the PCM and the plastic housing is needed. I had already cut much of my housing away in that area because I was unable to seat the PCM enough to bolt it back in (2 - 7mm bolts in the cab would not line up). So there's not much pressure on the wires now.
Cant rule out the PCM connector I suppose. When I get back from this trip, I'll see about getting a macro shot of the edge connector so you guys can help me judge it.
No living it down, Rich, "Tugging" has a whole new application now...

I pull out and reinstall chips and emulators MANY times a week.

"Tugging"... I'll just write checks on the next one, thank you very much.
