Oil cooler failer... BIG TIME.
#16
What a pain that was. Got the old oil cooler unit off afterremoving the power steering pump and vacuum pump. I am sad to report that I didn’tfind a smoking gun after breaking down the old cooler. It was very clear thatit had been in there for some time but all the o rings look intact. Hoping and Imean praying that this fixes the cross contamination issue.
For you guys that are just joining in this all started as alittle oil inside the overflow bottle. It never seemed to get any worse but I madesure to keep a very close eye on the oil. I would drive the truck from time totime to work roughly about 20 miles mostly to fix other issues like the CPS,IDM, Transmission leak, etc. The other day I noticed that there was a lot ofmoister inside of the valve covers and a little white sludge on the bottom ofthe dip stick. However the oil still looked clean and at the correct leave. So Idrove the truck 20 miles down to work and changed the oil while I was waitingfor the seals from riffraff. Changed the oil and it looked fairly good to be truthful.Drove the truck home and noticed a good amount of white smoke while the truckwas stopped for long periods in traffic. Got home and checked the oil to findthe crank case looks like a vanilla milk shake.
There is no loss in power, no hesitation, no startingissues, and no noise.
Since draining the coolant and flushing the oil system allsymptoms have stopped. I am hoping that by using the cor donated by anothermember and replacing the o rings that this was in fact the issue.
