Mustang 2 bushing removal

How do I get the lower control arm bushing out so I can replace it?

Probably the simplest is to take a propane torch and heat the metal center bushing (do this outside). When it gets hot, you can push it out with a screw driver. Then light the rubber on fire and heat the side of the bushing if available. Eventually you can again push the rubber out with the screw driver. Now take a hack saw and assemble the blade inside the metal shell. Cut the metal shell in two places and it should almost fall out by itself.

Now to press in the new bushing. If the bushing goes into a "C" channel you WILL need to make a spacer that fits inside or you WILL bend the control arm pressing the new bushing in.

That is how some new bushings come. A two piece with a slide in metal bushing. Usually polyuriethane bushings come this way. Could always get a set and see if the fit snuggly also some of the bushings like this need you to keep the metal sleve from the old bushing and others don't.

Beings your not positive I would recommend finding a press or a large vice to push the old bushings out. If you use one of the destroy methods to get them out you wont have a good sample to match up for replacement parts.
