360FE - 390FE 428 crank question

I have a 74 fe block it had a 360 crank in it and I have a 1968 428 cobra jet crank to put in its place. What will I need for Rods and pistons? I have 428 rods already just wondering what I need to do. The rods are C7AE-B and the pistons as well. Also what would the cubic inch be when I'm done?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you could use your stock rods (if they are in good condition) but you will need 410 pistons and 410/428 flywheel.

you will have have 410 cubic inches if im not mistaken. if i remember correctly the 410 was a mercury motor for 66 not sure on that info though.

I've torn down oem 410's before with 390 and 410 piston's. So, 360/390 block, 428 crank and 390 and up rods and 390/410 pistons = 410. Be sure to run a 428 balancer and flywheel.

You must use the short FE rods. I used THESE pistons in my build. They put me at about 9.2:1 compression. They are forged, and require the rotating assembly to be balanced. Period. Since the assembly must be balanced, I just used my 352 flywheel and balancer.

THESE are cast (like stock) and should put the compression in the 9.5:1 range. The rotating assembly wouldn't have to be balanced if you found a 410/428 flywheel. The stock balancer will work.

With a .30 overbore you'll end up with a 416

Most of the 390 truck engines used 410 pistons and bear the "410" numbers.

I was always under the assupmtion you need to use 390, 428 rods. Think these are the short rods, and have everthing balanced. 410 428 are external balanced, 360, 390 etc are internal.

I built a 416. If I could do it over, I'd make a 445.

That's fine, but you just created a lot of work for the guy that is balancing the engine. Which could have cost you more then getting the right flywheel. Because of the combination's people come up with, we use to charge by the hour to balance a rotating assembly.
