keeps blowing fuse help!!

My 01 f150 keeps blowing a fuse. It makes the o.d. light flash, only have 2nd gear, motor runs real bad. I forget how many codes it had but it was a bunch. It doesn't blow the fuse rite away. Sometimes its days between sometimes its hours.
Any ideas where to start looking for the short?

I'm at work so I can't say what fuse it is rite now

You have a short somewhere. You are gonna need to trace wires and load test circuits.

You need to identify the fuse specifically. We ain't psychic and it's tough to guess.

Once you look it up, go to the SEARCH box and type in "F##" where ## is the two digit fuse number. You'll likely find prior conversations about the same use blown fuses that will tell you what to look for.

If you can't help don't reply. Nobody ask for a smart *** comment. I did say I'm at work so I don't have all day to play on the phone to search.

Respectfully, if you gave the fuse number only and no other info we could have begun to help long before this point.
The fuse indicates the circuits involved, otherwise no one would know where to start.
Good luck.

I understand that. Just figured I can't be the only person that's had this problem and somebody may know where to start. I will get my book when I get home and get the fuse number and post again

Good enough.
What you have is a short to ground blowing the fuse.
Within the harness are leads to the transmission, the OX sensors and the EVAP system, plus some other functions.
Without power, the trans will not work, the OX sensors are out and other items.
These all are detected by the computer as seperate troubles but caused by one source, the fuse.
.
The harness comes down the passenger side rear of the motor and back to each location.
You need to get under and look for a rub-through, or a burn through to ground.
Once the fault is cleared, all the codes will clear after some drive cycles.
You see why the fuse # is important.
I knew pretty well what one it was by your discriptions but you needed to know why after it was confirmed.
This board is open to everyone and searches to see all the info, helps others you may never hear from.
There are some pretty sharp people on this board so please have patience.
Good luck.
