fuel filling problem
I bought my second SD truck back in november 05 250 5.4 CC lariat SB. I noticed on the first fill up that the nozzle kept shutting off after about a gallon , did some investigating and learned that the vapor canister was "clogged" LSS pulled the canister down (above spare tire) used water to clean out the canister by submerging and then using compressed air to blow out whatever came out I figured this would ruin the canister but so what . To my satisfaction when I went to fill the tank no more problem all it cost me was time not fords replacement price

Great tip - thanks! I have the same problem in my truck and have been debating on what to do. Mines not a daily driver so I generally just fill it up at home or don't fill it all the way up at the pump. Last I checked, Ford wanted around $400 for a new one - so you're right, what do you have to lose! Did you let it dry out at all after you blew it out before you put it back on? Any check engine lights or anything yet?
BTW, the problem is the fresh air vent is too low - you can buy a kit fairly cheap that allows you to relocate it so it doesn't suck up so much dust. Here's a post that has a link w/ diagrams about how to re-route it. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post12588062
