2 barrel carb vs. 1 barrel carb?

Hey guys I got an 86 bronco that the Carb is all out of wack so I'm going to look at purchasing a new one. Now I got an adapter plate for a 2 barrel to a 1 barrel opening , my main question is can I get a two barrel Carb to work good on this motor like get everything to mount up properly? I use the truck as my mud truck. I do have a 2 barrel I bought from someone online that came from a 5.0l 78 bronco that I might get rebuilt but I don't have the tag on the Carb to get the right kit for it. I was manly thinking about a 2 barrel more cause then I get help get a little more fuel to cylinders 1&6 cause I know they get starved a little bit. If anyone has a 2 barrel Carb on their straight six please leave some input.

I ran a 2150 on an offy C series. I really liked it, but I don't know how it would do on the stock manifold. Not sure if you will see any performance gains or not.

I'm running an Autolite 2100 on the stock manifold in my '65.
I don't have a lot of miles on it, because i'm working on rust issues- but test drives around the neighborhood seemed fine.

I did this on my old 85 Bronco. I built my own adapter. You will have to modify some stuff like fuel line, throttle cable brackets, transmission kick down or TV set up if it's an automatic.

It will work fine. You won't get the full advantage of running a larger carb because of the stock intake. But if you are just looking to get the engine to run good, that should do it.

No such thing as a 5.0L 78 Bronco! They only came with a 5.8L or a 6.6L. So it probably came off a 77 Bronco if it was off a 5.0L.

What number does it have on the side of the float bowl? It should be something like 1.08 or 1.21 or 1.33.

You can get parts here: http://www.carburetion.com/ford2v.htm

Oh yea something else to consider is you'll be going from a feedback carb to a non-feedback carb. So you should also look into swapping out the TFI distributor for an older Duraspark II distributor. This swap has been covered many times on the forum so just search for info on it.

1.21 is on the side of the bowl and yes it was a 5.8 the Carb came off of. Its a 4spd tranny. lke I say I would like to try this 2 barrel before I buy a refubished one. I was up set I bought a header for the 4.9l f150 in my sign and the guy wouldn't sell them unless I bought the intake too and it was a offenhouse dual plane 4 barrel intake and so i sold it figuring I would never use this then a couple months later I got the bronco...

The carb should work fine. And since you have a 4spd that's one less thing to modify to get it to work.

When you rebuild the carb make sure the throttle shaft doesn't have any slop in it. If it does you might need to install some bushings to tighten it up. If you don't you could have a vacuum and fuel leak.
