1952 F-5 Coleman 4x4
I just bought a 1952 4x4 Ford F-5 from a non crushing junkyard where it was used by the owners to get through the mud. The reason I bought it was because had a four wheel drive conversion on it. It looks to be a professional quality desined and built assembley with the same axle up front as in the rear, a two speed transfeer case with interaxle lock capability and "Coleman four wheel drive" cast onto both of the rather unusual and massive looking hubs. It appears to have been installed by a shop as the intalation seems rather rough in comparison to the qaulity of the casting. Any information on this machine would be much appreciated as I am very curious to find out just exactly what I have gotten ahold of. At this poin I plan to rework it into my winter truck for College. Thanks.

Coleman was a alternative installer of 4WD for Ford's before 1959. Marmon-Harrington was the main supplier and you see much more of them. You have a rare truck indeed! Every now and then a manual for coleman conversions appears on "Everyone favorite auction site" for sale. You really need a manual if you are going to tear into the components.
