Edge Evo combined with Glowshift EGT gage

I currently have a Glowshift EGT gage tapped into my exhaust manifold. I am thinking about adding an Edge Evolution programmer which has its own EGT temperature probe. Does anyone know if the two devices can be wired up to share the same probe? I'm not to thrilled with the idea of tapping another hole in my exhaust manifold.

maybe...... The way a thermo coupler/probe works is an eletrical charge is generated by heating 2 dissimilar metals(in the probe). That generated voltage is uses to power the gauge/ display the EGT. If you hooked 2 EGT gauges together I would be concerned that the amperage generated by the probe would not be enough to ACCURATELY display EGT on both gauges.

What I would do in this situation

Install the new probe in the other manifold so you can use it as a troubleshooting device/engine analyzer. With a gauge in each manifold you could quickly isolate which side of the engine was having and issue on cold start, worn injectors, UVCH problems etc.

You don't want to use the one probe for both units. My suggestion is to buy some more gauges to match the one you have and skip the Edge. Get yourself a chip that can be customized to your truck. I have and Edge Evo and I will be replacing it soon. The canned tunes just don't work that well. I really don't like the way it makes my Ex shift.

Good points from both you guys.

If I do go with the Evo, I'll go ahead and tap the other manifold.

On the other hand, I've also been researching the custom chips. Sounds like I might be a lot happier in the long run with a DPtuner. I just need to get a handle on how much I want to spend.

I agree with RC, I have never used an EVO but my truck did have a superchips tune on it when I bought it and the shifting was horrible. Any reputable tuner, DP..PHP..Beans...Swamps etc will be heads and shoulders above any canned tune. I personally am running PHP and am satisfied with the product.

Didn't take long for that one to go down the drain.

Not a new record though.....

What exactly went "down the drain"?

Record or not this site is about the sharing of information and experiences, I fail to what we did wrong.

I am thinking of ordering some glows gift gauges . Are they a pretty good gauge or should I not even waste my money ??

Functionally, I have not had any real problems with them. A couple things that are somewhat of an annoyance:

1. There is no way to dim the brightness, so if you have a pillar gage they are a bit of a distraction at night. However, you can change the background color to make them easier on your eyes.

2. The gages are supposed to retain the last color that you left them on when you turn off the engine. But when you go to restart the engine, sometimes the voltage drop created in the electrical system due to the engine starting up causes the gauges to fall back to their default color.
