I wanted to swap my axles to like a 2000 models for a solid front axle and rear disc brakes also thinkin about swapping 460 for a Cummins for better fuel economy and still have the power. Any feedback would be helpful. Thanks.

Upgrading to the 2000 axles will be a DOWNGRADE, most have an solid D50 up front and the rear is the same, just a slightly large carrier.

Look for a D60 out of any pre-97 Ford and swap it in.

I want to get away from the 97 and older p.o.s. independent front suspension

 

My 2000 and my 03 both have dana 60s but the dually is a 70. Also 97 and older are drums in the rear right?

 

From what I've heard and read the parts you'll need is the front dana 60 out of a pre-97 f350 The 350's had the solid axle and you'll need all the axle parts,so basically from the frame down.
