Cold start videos! Lets see yours!

First, I want to apologize for not flicking my bic. I had only been awake for like 5min and didn't think about it...

This was as cold as its been here lately. EOT was 21*F and truck had been sitting for 24hrs. This engine has about 60k miles on it and (wallyworld) batts are about 2 months old.

Lemme know if ya wanna see something else. I just noticed I had PW pulled up on the ScanGauge.... I guess I shoulda panned over to the tailpipe - sometimes (not always) there is a puff of light-colored smoke at start-up, but that's it.

As much as I'd like to make a cold start video, I don't think the mid 50's is considered cold.
Just sayin...

Awesome!

This one is right around freezing, if not slightly below freezing.

This is 3 months after new glow plugs and harnesses.

You know you can still let those plugs warm up after the WTS light goes out

Great Video Travis. Just curious, looks like the passenger side firewall heated up quicker than the driver side. Leaking up pipe maybe?

Yeah, exhaust side of the turbo + dp heating up. Did a good inspection when I had the turbo off recently, no up-pipe leaks detected.

Good videos y'all!

Ya know these trucks are designed to start down to -10*F without being plugged in, right? I'm sure the engine is not as happy as when its a little warmer - but I have started mine plenty of times below 0*F without plugging in. That said, I usually plug mine in for at least a few hours (via timer) when its gonna be below about 20*. It gives me cabin heat faster - I don't like COLD!!!

My Denso starter sure does zing the engine over fast compared to these videos.
