5.4 Dimensions

I'm looking for exterior dimensions for the 5.4. I know it's huge, and that a Boss 429 and a 427 Cammer will fit in smaller spaces. I need to find out just how big they are, so that I can take some measurements on a couple of cars, and see if they will accept this engine. I found a place that I could buy Lightning engines for a decent price, and I thought it would make a nice swap. Thanks for the help.

I don't know the exact dim. but I have seen one in a 89 5.0 Mustang, so it should fit in about anything you want it too. What are you thinking about putting it in?

I have two possible candidates. A 1972 Gran Torino Sport, full frame car so no shock towers. A 1963 Fairlane, with Mustang II front suspension, so again no shock towers. Torino weighs about 4,000lbs., and the Fairlane is about 3200. Either should be quick with a Lightning engine, and probably 20+ MPG. Should be different anyway.

Other than fabricating motor mounts and possibly a tranny crossmember to accomodate a compatable tranny, A doner truck with a complete wiring harness would be about the worst of it. I am pretty sure that it will fit in either vehicle.

Well a guess at this point isn't really good enough. I don't plan on spending 6-8K on an engine, only to find out it takes major butchering of a solid body car to make it fit. That's why I need numbers. Somebody must know where I can find them.
