looks like an Edsel to me. I had a neighbour that had one of those, beautiful car, the roof used to hide in the truck and as the word had it that they were a real troublesome car I don't think he had too much trouble with it. I know he had it until the late 60 to early 70's and was asked to sell many times. I moved away and don't know what eventually happened to it.

Wasn't that thing or it's inbred cousin on ebay a short time ago?
There wasn't anything wrong with the Edsel per se, They were just ugly as sin in the front with the lemon sucker grill and competed directly with the high end Ford and Low end Mercury models, pulling sales from both. It had some interesting features tho, a rotating ball speedometer and push button transmission shift in the center of the steering wheel. The hard top convertible was a disaster tho, They leaked like a sieve, tended to freeze up 1/2 way between open and closed, took up the entire trunk and then some, the back end looked like someone cut off a station wagon and put a lid over it to make room for the top. My Uncle bought a new 58 Ford HTC and Ford replaced it with a standard soft top convertible for him after about 3 months, it was in for service on the top more than on the road in that time.
