I bought a 2006 ford f350 diesel in a hurry a month ago. Since the engine was hot, I didn't look at the coolant which was stupid. Anyways, I took it to a Ford dealer to have the oil changed and everything looked at. The tech said there was oil in the coolant and wanted about $1100 to flush it out, change the hoses, Degauss bottle, and thermostat. He said it looked like someone had been in the engine and he thought the oil cooler was probably changed. He said he sees this often when people change the oil cooler and don't flush it well enough.
I then read this site and others and attempted to flush it myself. It was cold when I flushed it and I am not sure if I let it warm up enough. I flushed it 3 times with cascade, then once with prestone system cleaner and twice with fresh water. I let it idle and get up to temp in the drive-way in 20 degree weather but I didn't drive it. I cleaned the hose and the Degauss bottle well.
Now I am getting a small layer of oil in the Degauss bottle that I can pull off by siphoning. My question is whether or not you all think the oil cooler was changed or if I just did a poor job of flushing?

I think it can take ALOT of flushing to get all of the oil out of there. I'd try flushing a bit more and let it get up to full temp a few times before pulling the oil cooler.
