2008 escape traction engine bucking
Hi .....I have searched treads but coudn't find exactly what problems I am having... I have an 08 escape xlt awd with a 3.0 v6. On snowcovered roads , icy roads the engine is bucking every 20 seconds or so like the traction control is being activated...the tach drops about 4 or 5 hundred rpm's for a second or 2 and then its fine again for 15 or 20 seconds ...then it will do it again. As long as I'm on slippery roads. Now keep in mind I'm not spinning or loosing traction. I'm driving at a steady speed with great traction when this occurs. No eng lights , or traction control lights or abs lights coming on. It will not do this on pavement, and its been to the dealer for a tune up and service. They ran a scan on it to find nothing wrong. of course can't get the dame car to do it at the dealer cause it needs to be on a slippery roads. My head scratcher is how does this vehicle know when its on snow or ice, if its not spinning or slipping . Some times its on that good traction dry snow...can't even spinn a tire on that stuff with TC deactivated, but yet the car thinks its spinning or something and is reducing power just like what it does when I actually need the traction control. Everything seems to work properly, acept for this one issue...anyone have this problem,,, not sure what to do.Obvoiusly the car thinks its working just great, but how can it not work properly, and yet not set a code or have a light on??
