Hey Guys! Im new here. Bought a '63 F100 unibody w/ a 262 I6 last summer as an impulse buy, mainly because I just love the look of old unibodys. Fairly rough shape, rust holes in all the usual places, but it actually ran! Kind of. My question is: what is the CORRECT available replacement mechanical fuel pump for this motor? It has a noisy electric pump currently. I've read that fuel pump part number AFP 60092 from Napa will work: NAPA AUTO PARTS

But I'm not sure as no one seems to have one listed specifically for the 1963 262. Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

Are you sure the engine is a 262 ? I read where the 262 was used in heavy duty trucks & industrial applications.

 

According to my manual its a 262?

 

If you post the VIN# someone can decode it for you. That should help determine if the 262 is original to the truck or swapped in. Also, when you don't get much response in this "unibody" section, try posting in the 61-66 section. I think a lot of people forget to look in the "unibody" section.

 

There are particular engine forums to. It may help to post questions pertaining to a particular engine in its forum. Might get a quicker answer.

 

I don't think a '63 would have a 262, never seen one before '64. Whatever, the fuel pumps are the same on a 223 and a 262. Most stuff swaps across, except the distributor. The drive gear is different because the gear drive timing set turns the cam the opposite direction on the 262.

 

The 262 was availabe from 1961-1964. The VIN code was B.

 

There seem to be quite a few '63 F-100s with 262s, presumably as a Dealer Special Order, and even more '64s.

I have a '64 with the 262 but mine's also been converted to the annoying electric pumo, so I can't help you too much, other than to say I see 262 fuel pumps on ebay once in a while.

 

is there a pump in the original hole or did it get blocked off?
I put a new pump on my 223 and it didn't have the sediment bowl on it (not fashionable I guess, maybe a safety thing now )
if you still have a mechanical pump bolted in you could take it out and look for a casting number and MOST aftermarkets can get you new one from that
any pics of your "NEW" uni ??

by the way a Carter fuel pump # for a 223 is M3553....good luck

 

Why not take it apart n fix it yourself if you're tryin to go back original lookin it should just b a piece of rubber or leather diaphragm once u split it open.. If not I'd just go with the electic

 

one that's updated to handle e10 gas I've got one running my 223 i6 n my unibody right now it just leaks a little around the carb probly from being so or but a return line could b added easily and I just wired it straight to my ignition

 

Weird the parts book doesn't show a 262 in the F100, but it was installed. Going off the information for the F600 with 262 the part number was C1TE-9350-C or C3TE-9350-K. Google search C1TE-9350-C it came up at Green Sales. The "Number Dummy" was a Ford Parts Man so he will be able to give you the complete information, hope this helps.
