I went with recommendation of Phil's Muffler in Ft. Worth (and suggestions on the forum). Installed the 12198 14" Magna SIDO with 3 1/2 Chrome Tips. Also deleted the Resonator.

The Magna tone is awesome; deep, muscle car, etc. the 5.0 sounds great.

Plenty loud, as a matter of fact, we might have a dynamax resonator installed. It's loud in the cab; however, not as loud as my Mustang, so we will drive it a few days and see if we like it.

Chrome tips look great and the sound is what we were hoping for. Parts and labor under $400.00. I'll say Phil really knows what he is doing, great to watch him bend the pipes and fit everything.

Real good company. I put a Magnaflow cat back on my wife's previous Mustang she had, and it fit, looked and sounded great for the 4 or so years it was on the car.

 

How about drone in any of you guys trucks. How bad if any?

 

We drove it tonight. Might be a slight drone between 30-40 on acceleration. Not sure, but sounds like it. However, not enough to worry about.

I had the resonator removed, so if you are worried about that, you can resonator in place and see how you like the sound and performance.

 

Thanks. Drone on acceleration wouldn't be a problem, after all, you need to hear the engine accelerate.LOL. How about at steady state on/off cruise?
